Beginners Embroidery Workshop- Liz Smith

Beginners Embroidery Workshop

Liz Smith (“The Stitchsmith”) is coming to Christchurch for a special “one-off” embroidery workshop. If you’ve been wanting to try embroidery, now’s the time! Liz has been embroidering and needlepointing for many years and has just recently sold her “The Stitchsmith” business to concentrate more on textile works including hand tufted rugs and wall art. Embroidery is still her first love and she enjoys teaching people how to create their own unique embroidery pieces. Her work has appeared in Home & Garden, Stuff, UK Cross Stitch Magazine, Spirit - Conversations with Creative Women (coffee table book), the Auckland Art Gallery among others.

 The workshop will cover:

  • the basic embroidery stitches (plus a few fancy ones!)
  • how to use the colour wheel
  • how to transfer a pattern on to fabric
  • how to use different stabilisers
  • how to embroider onto clothing/knitwear
  • embroidery tips and tricks
  • how to present your finished work

You will come away from the workshop with the skills and knowledge to create your own personal embroidery pieces.

 What’s included:

  • 6 x DMC stranded cotton skeins
  • Embroidery Hoop
  • Needle
  • Water erasable pen
  • Linen square
  • Embroidery design
  • Full color stitch instructions to take home

The workshop is limited to 8 spaces and all materials required for the workshop are included. Afterpay available for payment.
