Little Dutch Sampler 1841
Cross Stitch Chart (by Gigi R)
A small and charming dutch sampler dated with 1841. The original sampler was stitched on loosely woven linen fabric with cotton (or linen) threads. Small amounts of silk threads were also were used here and there. Possibly, stitcher's initials were I.S.
There are figures of two people in the right top corner of the sampler. Their clothes resemble uniforms that were worn by orphans of the Burgerweeshuis (Civic Orphanage) in Amsterdam. In both bottom corners you can see a representation of one of the Three Kings, Caspar.
